HAPPY 13th Birthday to Jasmine

Thirteen years ago I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Her name is Jasmine. She was the easiest of all three. She weighte 6lbs 5oz and the time that she arrived was 8:08 in the morning. Here is a picture of her when she was 3 or 4 months old and
this is what she looks like today. I can't believe that my daughter is now a teenager. Time sure flies by.

Today for Jasmine's birthday the kid's had a watergun fight. I ddn't get involved with the watergun until one of the kids squirted me with water. So i got a pail of water that was half full and got Jasmine in the back and that is when the whole watergun fight started. I got soaked because there was like 4 kids against me. I was the one with the hose so I got everyone wet. It was a good time and at the end of the day Jasmine said it was her best birthday ever. That made me feel good.

Still Here!!

I haven't been blogging because there really isn't anything to blog about. The last three days of the trip was just hanging out at my mom's house and Jasmine and Justin went swimming at the pool while me and candace went to one of the elementary schools. The school has a really cool playground that she have at. I basically wanted to stay out of the sun since my arm was burnt.

The trip home went fairly good. It was the first time that Candace has ever been on the Greyhound bus so she was excited to go on the bus. She had a nap between Port McNeil and Woss. I woke her up in Woss to go to the bathroom and to get a snack.

So that is it about my trip. On Friday i bought a SD card for my digital camera so when i go to Pentitcion I will be able to get more pictures. I can't wait, i am getting excited.

Day 4,5 &6

Tuesday July 10

We headed to Keogh Lake for a day at the beach. The kids had a great time. The pictures from the day are down below in a slideshow. Keogh Lake is half way between Port Hardy and Port McNeil, B.C. I got a little bit of a burn on my arms, not that bad though. We headed home from the beach around 3:30pm. Then the kids played in the backyard and then watched tv for the rest of the day.

Wednesday July 11

Another day of laying around at the house since my mom had to work. Since Candace had her bike she did alot of bike riding. She loves riding her bike. The kids also spent the day riding their bikes too. Jasmine not so much, since her bike seat is broken. She needs a new bike.

Thrusday July 12

Today we spent the day at the beach. Keogh Lake was the lake we went to. It is so beautiful there. The first day we went the water was freezing, the second day was so nice and refreshing. Today was the day that i got burnt on my arms, my right arm not so much, my left arm got so bad that i couldn't sleep, it took a long time to heal. I couldn't wear shirts over my shoulders because it hurt.
Okay, enough whining(as my mom & stepdad would say). Other than that we all had a blast. Candace was such a trooper. At the lake there was a dock and Candace said to me and Jasmine "Go to the dock and meet me". Well, she surprised us all by swimming to the dock 2 times. She is getting to be such a good swimmer.

While we were getting ready to leave my mom saw a childhood friend of mine and my sister's. I was like that is her. So we chatted for awhile, it was nice to meet up with up with her. While we were leaving we got a flat tire(sucks). There was this guy that was nice enough to help us.

Not a very good picture of us. It was taken at the end of the day. She lives in Port McNeil, which is fairly close to Port Hardy. So i think the next time i get to go up to see my mom again i will give her a close

Well that is all for now. I will update tomorrow with the last three days of our trip.

First three days of our trip

SATURDAY July 6

My mom arrived in Powell River around 5p.m. We then went to Snickers restaurant to have dinner. I had a long Island Iced Tea and it tasted so horrible. I diluated it with water. Then after dinner me and Candace came home and Jasmine and Justin went with my Mom to stay with her at the hotel.

SUNDAY July 7

I had a early start for our trip. I was up at 2:15a.m. I couldn't sleep. So i went out to the living room and watched t.v. til 6:30a.m. I got Candace up and we both showered and had breakfast and my mom arrived at 7:30a.m. We caught the 8a.m ferry over to Comox. We stopped in Courtenay, did some shopping. We also stopped in Campbell River and mom took Jasmine shopping for some clothes, Justin got his hair cut, then i went to Penningtons(i think that's the name) and bought myself a pair of shorts and a couple t-shirts. Then we went out to lunch. We arrived in Port Hardy around 4p.m.

Monday July 8

We really didn't do much today. We mostly hung around my mom's place while the kids played in the backyard.

Ever wonder??

Ever wonder who your ancestor is. I found out who my great, great, great grandfather is. Here he is
Squamish chief August Jack Khahtsahlano was born near the site of Burrard Bridge in Vancouver at the village of Snauq (now Kitsilano) on July 16, 1867 and baptized in 1879. He distributed 100 blankets at a memorable potlatch in 1900 after inheriting his name from his grandfather Chief Khahtsalanough of Sun’ahk. A former sawmill worker, he formally became August Jack Khahtsahlano in 1938. Other spellings of his hereditary name include Kates-ee-lan-ogh and ’Haatsalano. The suffix lan-ogh means “man.” From 1932 onwards, archivist Major J.S. Matthews recorded August Jack Khahtsahlano’s stories and personal history for Conversations with Khatsalano 1932-1954 (1969), a follow-up to Squamish Legends with Oliver Wells. The chief had collaborated with Oliver Wells and Domanic Charlie for Khahtsahlano’s first book Squamish Legends... The First People (1966). The publisher was Charles Chamberlain, proprietor of the Tomahawk Cafe in North Vancouver where Khahtsahlano’s carvings were on display and offered for sale. Oliver Wells’ first ethnographic excursion beyond Chilliwack occurred on July 9, 1965 when he travelled to the Yekwaupsum Indian Reserve (No. 18) north of Squamish, to the ancestral home of August Jack Khahtsahlano’s mother. Chief August Jack Khahtsahlano died in Vancouver on June 14, 1967.

The name of Kitsilano as a neighbourhood was appropriated by the Canadian Pacific Railway after consultations with local postmaster Jonathan Miller who, in turn, consulted ethnographer Charles Hill-Tout. By the 1890s, the village of Snauq was surrounded by land owned by Donald Smith and Richard Angus of the CPR, and land developers David Oppenheimer, C.D. Rand and R.G. Tatlow. The B.C. government pushed through an arrangement to buy 72 acres known as the Kitsilano Reserve No. 6, without federal authority, in March of 1913, for $218,750, whereupon Khahtsahlano and his people were moved to North Vancouver’s Capilano Reserve. There were higher offers for the land at the time. The federal government soon protested the deal for the Vanier Park area. Conservative MP H.H. Stevens convinced Ottawa to buy out the province’s acquisition. After the Squamish people launched a retroactive legal appeal in 1976, the federal government proposed a $92.5 million trust as compensation in 2000, but it was not accepted.
